I am Peg Bowles and I began Initial Impressions in 1999. Initial Impressions is a custom embroidery company here in Boulder Colorado, with a website at www.initial-impressions.net and a blog discussing interesting embroidery ideas and projects that go beyond the website. You can see the blog at www.initial-impressions.net/blog.
Mine is a bit of niche market. I thrive on the more creative and unusual projects that come my way. I am not one of those embroiderers who likes to do 400 of the same item. That said, the website offers a variety of items for every member of the family and every gift giving need. I work very hard to preserve that personal touch to each order.
Initial Impressions is essentially a one person operation, althrough I do get help from my large family on occasion. My daughter Charlotte does me web design and other family members often help with packaging and shipping.
The things I have learned about being an entrepreneur --
1. That I was better at selling things than I ever thought I would be -- it is easy when you really and truly love what you do and believe in your product.
2. That inventory control would be such a challenge.
